The Weslaco Lions Club and Valley Nature Center are proud to announce their first StoryWalk™ event.
The StoryWalk™ will feature the book "If You Give a Pig a Pancake" written by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond. Pages from the book will be placed along the walking trail at the Valley Nature Center to encourage families to get out into nature and read. There will also be a drawing to win books and other prizes!
The Valley Nature Center is located at 301 S. Border Ave. in Weslaco. StoryWalk™ will be available during regular operating hours from September 8 to October 11, 2016. For more information, call (956) 969-2475 or visit valleynaturecenter.org. Admission to the Valley Nature Center is $2 for children, $5 for adults, and $3 for seniors.
The Weslaco Lions Club is sponsoring the StoryWalk™ project as part of their year-long Reading Action Program committed to increasing child literacy. The Weslaco Lions Club meets every Tuesday at noon at Pimiento’s Restaurant in Weslaco. If you are interested in assisting with the project or in becoming a member, please contact weslacolions@gmail.com.
The StoryWalk™ Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition (VBPC) and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.
