Nurse Practitioner-Physician Assistant

The Nurse Practitioner-Physician Assistant is directly responsible for the care of patients.  Duties include performing initial clinical evaluations and directed procedures for urgent care, occupational health, and workers' compensation procedures.  The Nurse Practitioner-Physician Assistant will also follow up on laboratory analysis and radiology studies.  The job description below is a summary and not all-inclusive.
The position provides 15 shifts a month. 

Essential Responsibilities:

1.  Maintains customer loyalty score at or above company benchmark.

2.  Ability to check patients in and out at the front desk, verify insurance, answer phone lines

3.  Consistently communicate with patients on wait times and/or delays; provide direction to the next step in the treatment process

4.  Provides solutions to patient problems and recognizes and seeks help an emergent/hazardous situations.

5.  Provide timely follow-up regarding lab and x-ray results.

6.  Obtains and accurately documents patient medical record and treatment.

7. Ability to assist medical assistants if needed with administration of medications; Laboratory duties-Perform CLIA-waived lab test, draw blood, and collect and label specimens for any send-out labs; Perform DOT and Non-DOT urine drug screens and Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT); Perform DOT physical exams.

8.  Ensures that equipment is in proper working order and reports any malfunction to the center manager or designee on duty.

9.  Follows documentation procedures and completes required paperwork related to patient visit.

10.  Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and patient confidentiality policies.

11. Act in a supervisory role while on duty, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, logbooks are maintained, examination rooms are stocked, and other duties are assigned.

12.  Act with honesty and integrity in all business transactions, including, but not limited to, employment applications/resumes, patient records, time records, and financial transactions.

Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications-Education:

Graduation from Accredited NP or PA Program 

NP Certification (current)

BLS, ACLS, PALS certification (current)

DOT examiner (desired)

Experience:

Minimum one year of experience as a nurse practitioner-physician assistant in a comparable environment or successful completion of the nurse practitioner certification program with previous nursing experience in emergency or critical care

Additional knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proficient with practice management software and overall understanding of MS Office

Ability to work weekends and holidays
