Occupational Therapy Aide
Job Description:
A Physical Therapist Assistant in a Texas nursing home setting typically works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to assist in providing physical therapy services to patients.
Responsibilities may include:
Monitoring a patient’s progress to make sure that they’re successfully completing treatment- Encouraging the patient during their recovery process
- Helping patients to improve their quality of life by finding solutions to their problems
- Teaching patients with disabilities to become more independent
- Updating patient records for the Occupational Therapist
- Keeping the office, treatment room and equipment in good order
- Teaching patients, family members or other Caregivers skills and techniques to help with the patients’ treatment program
Requirements:
1. Education: Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
2. Licensure: Must hold a valid Occupational Therapist Assistant license in the state of Texas.
3. Experience: Some nursing homes may require previous experience working as a OTA in a similar setting.
4. CPR Certification: Current CPR certification may be required.
5. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with elderly patients.
6. Physical Stamina: Ability to assist patients with physical therapy exercises and activities.
7. Compliance: Knowledge of and adherence to state regulations and guidelines related to physical therapy practice.
