KRGV-TV5 in Weslaco, Texas has the following vacancy:
KRGV-TV, the ABC affiliate in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, is currently seeking: Spanish Language Reporter.
 
 
KRGV Channel 5 News and KRGV 5.2 Noticias RGV is looking for a dynamic Spanish Language News Reporter for our flagship newscasts Monday – Friday on Noticias RGV.
KRGV located in the McAllen-Harlingen- Brownsville, Texas market, is the 11th largest Hispanic market in the U.S. and part of the largest news operation in any language in South Texas.
 
 
We are looking for an experienced Spanish-speaking reporter but will consider recent college graduates.
 
 
Located in the southern portion of Texas along the Gulf of Mexico, the Rio Grande Valley is among the safest, least expensive places to live in the U.S. with 93% of Hispanic descent.
 
 
We are looking for someone who has the ability to develop contacts and online sources to get a story that is community oriented with great storytelling. We are looking for a reporter with a strong passion for news and generating significant enterprise local and hyper local news stories.
 
 
You should also have a passion for breaking news and using creative stand-ups and live shots as part of telling your story and a desire to win, by winning the big story and beating the competition.
 
 
As part of our commitment to quality journalism, KRGV provides on-air talent the opportunity to meet one on one up to 3x per year with a talent coach from our consulting company Magid. This is a unique and exclusive opportunity to get one-on one coaching with a veteran news coach on top of the daily feedback from news managers.
 
 
This position is Full Time
 
SKILLS
  • 100% Proficiency in Spanish writing and speaking required
  • Will work daily closely in a team environment with a news photographer to produce great stories
  • Produce digital content daily that relates to each TV story.
  • Frequently post daily on social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram
  • Develop sources to find unique, non-traditional and exclusive story ideas
  • Pitch your own story ideas.
  • Perform other tasks as required by newsroom management, including occasional MMJ reporting
 
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a television reporter, preferably with a Spanish language news station
  • BA/BS in Journalism, Communications or related field
  • Knowledge of ENPS and Edius editing programs is a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
